What is 'The Changeling' about?
"The Changeling" features "Get Out" and "Atlanta" star LaKeith Stanfield, who also executive produced the show, along with Clark Backo, Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring and Alexis Louder. The new series is based on the bestselling novel by Victor LaValle and follows Apollo and Emma, a couple played by Stanfield and Backo. Right before their romance begins, Emma takes a trip to Brazil where she explores a lagoon that locals say is forbidden and shouldn't be entered. There, she meets a woman who grants her three wishes and ties a red string around her wrist.
Emma is told that her three wishes will come true once the string falls off and that she should not intentionally remove it. Things start to take a turn for the worse after Apollo, who isn't superstitious, cuts the string off Emma's wrist. "The Changeling" was written and adapted by Kelly Marcel, most known for projects like "Cruella" and "Venom." The pilot episode was directed by "Queen & Slim" and "Insecure" director Melina Matsoukas.
